"Remembering Our Fallen" is a touring photo display honoring Iowa military members who have died from wounds suffered in a war zone, since September 11, 2001. This emotional exhibit is a reminder of the sacrifice made by 76 Iowans killed in The War on Terror while wearing our country's uniform in a war zone.
The exhibit was on display in the Atrium area of the Convention Center , November 1st through November 6th, 2011 and was free and open to the public.The opening ceremony was held November 1st in the Sondheim Center Theater. This ceremony was a tribute to the individuals featured in the exhibit and included a color guard, a performance of taps, local and state officials along with local and regional military representatives. The public was invited to attend this ceremony. An Honor ceremony was held on Saturday afternoon in the Convention Center atrium at 2:30 pm and featured a personal visit from Congressman Dave Loebsack. The Congressman addressed attendees, veterans and their families. A reading of the Roll Call was a part of this ceremony.
