Fred Gratzon has been creating the musical he calls Hammock: A Lazy Musical. This musical is loosely based on Fred's book The Lazy Way to Success: How to Do Nothing and Accomplish Everything. Fred has written the lyrics and libretto for this musical and recently teamed with local composer Carol Negro who is adding the music.
An important step in the development of any musical is a "workshop performance" of some of its songs and scenes. This must be done before a live audience to give the authors a chance to gauge audience reaction and to learn what works and what doesn't.
If you would like to participate as an audience member/drama critic or if you are just curious to see what these two creative souls could have possibly come up with, this promises to be a fun, even hilarious, evening. Of course, the possibility exists that this musical grows legs and hits the big time. If so, you could say you were there at its very first workshop performance.
This "Workshop Performance" will not be the full-blown musical. The evening will only consist of a performance of 8 or 9 of its songs. Fear not, Fred will not be the one singing. That honor falls to some of Fairfield's most talented musicians. Fred, however, will be on hand to introduce the songs and put each one into its proper context.
It is hoped that a lively question and answer period will follow.
